“Hocus pocus.” “Smoke and mirrors.”
These words appeared late Friday afternoon in a published decision of the California Court of Appeal in Sacramento describing the insurance industry’s latest failed attack on the consumer protections of insurance reform Proposition 103.
The Court upheld Prop 103 rules that prevent insurance companies from earning excessive profits and prohibit them from passing on excessive costs – like sports sponsorships – to consumers.

The Medical Board of California should soon have to answer for its failure to properly investigate accusations that a doctor's negligence harmed or killed a patient.
It would be unthinkable to decide the merits of a rape case without collecting evidence and interviewing both the victim and the accused. It is equally inconceivable that the Medical Board would close a complaint involving potentially life-threatening negligence after a medical expert gets only the doctor’s side of the story. Yet that appears to be the outcome of too many patient complaints to the Board.

Jane Fowler is asking Jerry Brown to shut down the Aliso Canyon natural gas storage facility permanently. She started feeling sick weeks before Southern California Gas ever admitted there was a massive well blow out at the facility. After a seven-month hiatus from her home, she returned only to find her symptoms back again.
