Big Oil Spent Millions on Lobbying to Kill Climate Change, Fracking Bills at Legislative End

Big oil spent nearly $11 million in the third quarter on lobbying to kill bills that included targeting climate change and air and water protections. Monday was the last day that employers could file lobbying numbers.

Though the U.S. Supreme Court believes otherwise, the public is disgusted with the money that has swamped our political system and wants a major overhaul. A growing number of Republicans and Democrats alike want more restrictions on wealthy influence peddlers and more disclosure of donors who give to organizations that get involved in elections.

Will Big Oil Money Continue to Trump Public Interest in Legislature?

As news that California allowed thousands of oil and fracking wells to dump waste water into protected underground aquifers surfaced, legislation to prevent such environmental disasters wound its way to a floor vote in both houses of the Legislature.
