On Sunday, the Los Angeles Times laid a challenge right at the door step of the California Legislature.  Ivan Penn's article about the billions ratepayers have overpaid for their electricity due to construction that has not proven useful to ratepayers cries out for a legislative fix to restore the doctrine of "used" and "usefulness" for new projects.

PGE Lobbyist Cherry Gets Immunity, Bad for Brown?

Pacific Gas and Electric executive Brian Cherry, whose prolific emailing exposed a corruption ring at the Public Utilities Commission,  has received immunity from the US government as it prosecutes its case against PG&E for obstruction of justice in the wake of the San Bruno gas explosion in 2010.

PG&E's Cherry On Top As Gov't Witness, Dominos to Fall On Brown?

Here’s a news flash that’s probably causing a lot of sleepless nights among Governor Brown’s inner circle: The central figure in the PUC corruption scandal, PG&E lobbyist Brian Cherry, is now a witness for the US government, in the case against PG&E over the San Bruno explosion.
 
Before the federal case against PG&E over San Bruno was delayed, the witness list turned over by the Justice Department included Cherry as one of its own witnesses.

Judge Blows Open Doors of the PUC Corruption Ring

Memo to the California PUC: You can’t run, and you can’t hide. If you are involved in a criminal conspiracy to defraud ratepayers, or other corruption, your emails are public records that should be out in the open.

Will Peevey go to prison?

When agents from the California Attorney General’s office raided Mike Peevey’s home, the question arose about whether the former Public Utilities Commission chief could land in jail for impropriety. His transgressions against ratepayers include seeking utility contributions to his political causes while bartering secretly with utilities over their desired rulings in pending cases.

Why is everyone fixated on a $34 bathroom scale and Governor Jerry Brown’s move to the newly-renovated governor’s mansion when there are far more dollars at stake in the Governor's handling of the Public Utilities Commission?
